How to cancel ReciMe and keep your recipes

We make Galette, a recipe app for iPhone that isn’t out yet. This guide is about ReciMe, not us. Every step comes from Apple’s, Google’s or ReciMe’s own help, linked under Sources at the bottom. Spotted a mistake? [email protected].
The short answer
- Find out where you subscribed. Apple, Google Play or ReciMe’s website. Each one cancels in a different place.
- Cancel there. ReciMe can’t cancel an Apple or Google Play subscription for you.
- Your recipes stay. ReciMe says your saved recipes stay in your account after you cancel. You go back to the free plan’s import limit.
- Want a copy outside ReciMe? ReciMe lists PDF export as a ReciMe Plus feature. If you want PDFs, make them before your paid time runs out.
If you’re on a free trial, ReciMe and Apple both say to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, or it renews into a paid subscription. ReciMe’s prices, with dates, are on our ReciMe price page.
Step 1: find out where you subscribed
ReciMe’s help says the app shows this on the My Subscription screen in Settings. You’ll see one of:
- “Subscribed through the App Store”
- “Subscribed through recime.app (Stripe)”
- “Subscribed through Google Play”
- “No active subscriptions”
ReciMe’s help also notes that how you sign in can differ from how you pay. You might sign in with Apple but pay on ReciMe’s website.
No app to hand? Apple’s help suggests searching your email for “receipt from Apple” or “invoice from Apple”. If there’s no Apple receipt, check your bank or card statement to see which company bills you.
Step 2: cancel in the right place
If you subscribed through Apple (iPhone or iPad)
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap ReciMe.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down to find it.
Apple says: if there’s no Cancel button, or you see an expiry message in red, the subscription is already cancelled.
On the web: sign in at account.apple.com and follow the steps. On a Mac: in the App Store, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, click your name again on the page that appears, then Subscriptions.
Someone else’s Apple Account? Apple says you can’t cancel a family member’s subscription. The person whose Apple Account is on the receipt has to do it.
If you subscribed through Google Play (Android)
- On your Android device, open subscriptions in Google Play.
- Select ReciMe.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the instructions.
Google notes that uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.
If you subscribed on ReciMe’s website (Stripe)
ReciMe’s help gives two ways:
- In the app: Settings › My Subscription › Manage my subscription, then follow the prompts.
- In a browser: use the cancel link in ReciMe’s cancel article, enter the exact email address on your ReciMe account, and confirm.
Not sure which email you used? ReciMe says it’s at the top of Settings › Account Settings in the app. If you’re stuck, ReciMe’s help points you to [email protected].
Deleting the app or your account doesn’t cancel
- ReciMe’s help says deleting your ReciMe account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel first.
- Google says uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription.
- For Apple, cancel in Settings as above. Apple’s cancel page doesn’t mention deleting apps, so we don’t make a claim either way.
Step 3: keep your recipes
What happens after you cancel. ReciMe’s help says:
- You keep ReciMe Plus until the end of the trial or period you paid for.
- Then your account goes back to the free version.
- Your recipes stay saved. You return to the free import limit (5 imports a week, per ReciMe’s free-plan page).
Saved recipes don’t depend on the original post. ReciMe’s help says an imported recipe is a copy, saved at the time you imported it. It stays even if the original video or web page is deleted.
Getting a copy outside ReciMe. There are two routes in ReciMe’s help:
- PDF, one recipe at a time. Open a recipe, tap the Share icon under the recipe image, then Export as PDF or Print. ReciMe lists “Export/print recipes” as a ReciMe Plus feature, so do this before your paid time ends. You can also share a recipe link.
- A copy of all your saved recipes. ReciMe’s help says to email [email protected] from the address on your account, asking to download a copy of your saved recipes.
Where ReciMe does well here: you don’t lose your library when you stop paying. Your recipes stay in a free account, and ReciMe’s data page opens with “Your recipes are yours. Always.”
Refunds
It depends on where you paid. Cancelling and asking for a refund are separate steps.
- Apple: ReciMe can’t issue refunds for Apple purchases. Ask Apple: sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com, choose “I’d like to”, then “Request a refund”, pick a reason, choose the item and submit. Apple says to expect an update in 24 to 48 hours, and that eligibility varies by country or region.
- Google Play: ReciMe’s help says to ask Google from your Play account’s order history (“Request a refund” or “Report a problem”).
- ReciMe’s website (Stripe): ReciMe’s help offers a 14-day money-back guarantee from the date you were charged. Email [email protected] with the subject “Refund Request”, your name, your ReciMe username and the charge date.
ReciMe’s help also says that, under its Terms, most sales made in the app are final, but that refunds may be possible depending on where you subscribed.
Questions
Can I cancel ReciMe from inside the app?
ReciMe’s help says only if you subscribed on ReciMe’s website (Stripe). Apple and Google Play subscriptions are cancelled through Apple or Google; ReciMe’s help says it has no billing access to them.
When should I cancel a ReciMe free trial?
At least 24 hours before it ends. Both ReciMe’s help and Apple’s cancel page say this. Trials renew into a paid subscription automatically.
Do I lose my recipes if I cancel ReciMe?
ReciMe says no: recipes you imported stay saved, and you go back to the free plan’s limit of 5 imports a week.
I deleted ReciMe. Am I still being charged?
Possibly. Deleting the app or your ReciMe account doesn’t cancel the subscription (ReciMe’s and Google’s help). Check Step 2.
How do I get a refund from ReciMe?
See Refunds above. Where you paid decides who handles it.
If you’re looking at other apps
Before you save hundreds of recipes into any app, check how it lets you export and what you keep if you stop paying. Our ReciMe price page and recipe app price tracker list dated prices and free-plan limits.
Galette isn’t out yet. You can join the waitlist: a confirmation email, one at launch, maybe one for an early beta. Nothing else, promise.
