How much is ReciMe? Prices, the free plan and why you may see a different price

We make Galette, a recipe app for iPhone that isn’t out yet. We try to be fair, and we want to hear about mistakes: [email protected].

The answer, dated

ReciMe is free to download and has a paid plan called ReciMe Plus. Its price depends on where you live and where you subscribe.

  • ReciMe’s own help page gives one US example: the yearly plan is $39.99.
  • Apple’s US App Store page lists ReciMe Plus at $29.99, $39.99 and $59.99. Apple doesn’t say which price is which plan.
  • Apple’s UK page lists ReciMe Plus at £19.99, £29.99 and £34.99, with the same gap.
  • A US monthly price: we couldn’t find one on .

Why you might see a different price

Several things can change the number on your screen.

  • Where you are. ReciMe’s help says the cost “depends on your plan and your country or region of purchase”.
  • Where you subscribe. ReciMe also sells through its own website, which uses Stripe. Its help notes that Apple or Google may add taxes or fees.
  • Which offer you’re shown. Apple lists up to ten ReciMe Plus items per country, and doesn’t label them. We can’t tell which belong to which plan length or promotion.
  • Discounts. ReciMe’s help says students, seniors (60 and over) and military can ask by email for 10% off the first year of a new annual plan. Only one discount or promotion applies per subscription.
  • Other websites disagree. The tracker AppPricer, which we use only as a cross-check, lists one US subscription at $29.99 to $59.99 with 7-day or 14-day trials (prices as of ). A competitor’s blog, Deglaze, says $59.99 a year (updated , checked ). ReciMe’s own help says $39.99, so that’s the number we put first.

Prices change. Our memory is no better, which is why every price here has a date next to it.

What the free plan includes

ReciMe’s help says the free version lets you import up to 5 recipes a week. That’s about 22 a month (5 a week for 52 weeks, divided by 12).

It also says the free version includes grocery lists, meal plans, cookbooks and grocery checkout.

ReciMe lists these as Plus only:

  • removing the limit on recipe imports
  • the nutrition calculator
  • the measurement converter
  • exporting and printing recipes
  • step-by-step guided cooking

The trial: when you’re charged and how to cancel

  • Length. ReciMe’s help mentions a 7-day trial. AppPricer shows some US offers with 14 days (). We can’t confirm 14 days from ReciMe or Apple.
  • When you’re charged. Trials renew into a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel. ReciMe’s help says to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
  • Reminders. ReciMe says it sends a reminder before a renewal when you subscribe on its website. We haven’t tested whether an App Store trial sends one, so don’t rely on it.
  • How to cancel. It depends on where you subscribed.
    • Apple: Settings › your name › Subscriptions, or apple.com/account/subscriptions. ReciMe can’t cancel an Apple subscription for you.
    • Google Play: the Play app, then Subscriptions.
    • ReciMe’s website (Stripe): in the app under Settings › My Subscription, or through ReciMe’s web link.
  • After you cancel. Plus stays active until the period you paid for ends. Then your account goes back to the free version. ReciMe says your recipes stay saved, but you return to the free import limit.
  • Refunds. ReciMe’s help says most sales made in the app are final. For Apple purchases, ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play, ask Google. ReciMe says website purchases made through Stripe have a 14-day money-back guarantee, by email.

Is ReciMe Plus worth it?

It depends on how you cook and what phone you have.

Plus may be worth paying for if:

  • you import more than about 22 recipes a month and don’t want to wait for the weekly limit to reset
  • you want to export or print your recipes, use the nutrition calculator or the measurement converter, or follow guided cooking
  • you use Android. ReciMe is on Android today, and Galette is being built for iPhone

The free plan may be enough if:

  • you import a handful of recipes a month
  • you mostly want grocery lists, meal plans and cookbooks, which ReciMe lists as free

Where ReciMe wins today: it’s out, it runs on Android, and it has meal plans and grocery checkout. Galette isn’t released yet.

For comparison: Galette isn’t out yet, and we haven’t announced our prices. When we do, they’ll be listed on our own pricing page with dates. We make no claim to be cheaper, because we can’t tell which ReciMe item is which plan.
